Anyone who wants to know why Bern rocks like no other Swiss city and loves to dance their way through life will find this musical city tour just right. Traveling with scene experts, it's time to dust off your dancing shoes and dive into Bern's music scene. This walking tour promises a journey of discovery along the trail of Bernese dialect rock. We're not taking the "rock" part too literally, though, and will also venture into the chansons of Mani Matter and the early days of jazz, when "Giele und Modi" (boys and girls) danced to the swing of big bands. On the tour, we'll encounter the beginnings of Bern's successful music scene with names like Hazy Osterwald and the influential troubadour Mani Matter. Of course, bands like Züri West, Polo's Schmetterding, and Patent Ochsner, as well as rap stars like Chlyklass and Steff La Cheffe, will also play a part. Many of the clubs and meeting places that shaped Bernese rock music have long since disappeared. But our city guide, Sam Mumenthaler, who knows all the wild and not-so-wild stories of Bernese rock like no other, will beam them back into the present.
