Published texts and premieres bear witness to the intellectual, imaginative, and wordplay of the poet Mani Matter, who, in keeping with his time, also devoted himself to the absurd, the dialectical, and the existential. His themes revolve around writing itself, timeless social games, and thought experiments. The production takes up this and consciously enters the artistic world of the theater—to play with it and just as easily leave it again. In the play, Mani Matter's viewpoints are represented by various recurring characters: the author, the citizen, the hero, and the spirit. The evening moves playfully between philosophy and nonsense, between tense situations and situational comedy, thus repeatedly revealing the author's clever wit.
